ABOUT US

Introduction:

The Whitefish Point Preservation Society formed in 2002 as a grassroots, watchdog movement to save Whitefish Point from further commercialization and development. Members include relatives of Whitefish Point lighthouse keepers. (See the Heritage page for what they have to say.) One Steering Committee member is also a member of Friends of Whitefish Point, the first watchdog group that formed in 1994 to save Whitefish Point.

Our Values

● We value living in a safe community that has honest and effective government.

● We value when township residents have security in their jobs and the community of Paradise benefits from visitor’s drawn to the Tahquamenon Falls and Whitefish Point.

● We know that the area’s beauty and natural surroundings are what residents and visitors value the most about Whitefish Township.

● It is our intent to protect Whitefish Point's history, environment, and its natural beauty for future generations.

Dedicated in memory of Richard Carmody who guided us in our mission and Robert Wegmann who mentored and honed our watchdog skills.
